A six-year-old boy named Shahriar Ahmed Rafi has drowned in a pond at Madinapara in Lohagara municipality, Narail.
It happened at Madinapara on Friday afternoon.
Rafi was the son of Sadekur Rahman Ujjal of Madinapara and a nephew of Sohel Rana, joint general secretary of the Chhatra Dal central committee.
Family and relatives said Rafi had been wandering about beside the house and at one point fell into the pond. This was also seen in CCTV footage. His parents, family and relatives are in mourning.
Tipu Sultan, organising secretary of the district BNP, and Sohel Rana Laxmi, senior joint convener of the Lohagara municipal Jubo Dal, said Rafi would be buried after a funeral prayer at 8:30pm on Friday in Naora village in Joypur union of Lohagara. Leaders and activists of the BNP, the Jubo Dal, the Chhatra Dal and affiliated organisations have expressed their condolences to the boy’s family.
