Eleven held with weapons at Narail court

Police have arrested 11 people with locally made weapons at a lawyer’s chamber in the court compound in Narail, where they had come to answer a case.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon (September 20) in the compound of the district and sessions judge’s court.

Those arrested are Eskender Sheikh, 45, Aminur Sikder, 56, Hafez Sheikh, 25, Toyebur Rahman, 55, Sekender Ali, 58, Hasanur Rahman, 55, Riazul Sikder, 27, Ariful Sheikh, 22, Tarek Sheikh, 32, Zulfikar Rahman, 40, and Shariful Mollah, 40, all of Charkandipara village in Kalabaria union of Kalia upazila.

The group came to the Narail court in the afternoon to answer an assault case. They were in a lawyer’s chamber in the court compound at the time. On receiving information, a team from Narail Sadar police station raided the place and arrested them with the weapons. Police are investigating what purpose they had in coming to the court compound with these sharp weapons.

Police believe they kept the locally made weapons with them in order to attack people on the opposing side. Twelve weapons including sharp ramdas, machetes and cleavers were recovered from them.

Narail Sadar police officer-in-charge Rasel Sarwar said 11 people had been arrested with locally made weapons and that legal action had been taken against them.
