Two people have been killed in a three-way collision between an ambulance, a Hiace microbus and a CNG-run autorickshaw in Osmaninagar, Sylhet. Five others were injured.
The accident happened at about 8:30am on Friday at a place called Chanpur in Tajpur union of Osmaninagar upazila, on the Sylhet-Dhaka highway.
The dead are Suhel Ahmad, 32, of Chandpur Sadar upazila, and Khairul Islam of Matlab Dakshin upazila in the same district. The names of the injured could not be learned immediately.
It is learned that a Dhaka-bound ambulance from Sylhet, a Sylhet-bound Hiace microbus and a Sherpur-bound CNG-run autorickshaw collided in the Chanpur area of the highway on Friday morning. Suhel Ahmad, a passenger in the microbus, died at the scene, and several passengers of the vehicles were seriously injured.
Six injured people were rescued and taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where Khairul Islam died under treatment.
Sub-Inspector Jasim Uddin of Sherpur highway police station confirmed the accident.
