An under-trial prisoner named Mintu Gazi, 39, has died while being treated in the prison cell of Khulna Medical College Hospital.
He died at 2:15am on Friday. According to the death certificate issued by the doctor, he died of cardio-respiratory failure caused by a severe heart attack.
Mintu Gazi was from the Chandnimukha area of Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira. His father’s name is Md Abdur Mannan Gazi.
Hospital sources said he was admitted to wards 19 and 20 of Khulna Medical College Hospital at 11:45pm on Thursday after falling ill, and died under treatment at 2:15am.
Dr Md Irfan said he died of a severe and extensive heart attack.
The body has been kept in the hospital’s morgue for a post-mortem examination.
