Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a large quantity of Indian goods in separate raids along the Sylhet border, the force said.

The goods were seized by the BGB’s 48 Sylhet Battalion in the early hours of Sunday (November 1).

According to the BGB, the battalion’s Minatila, Sangram, Pratappur, Tamabil, Domdomia and Utma border outposts carried out the raids from Saturday night until dawn on Sunday. Indian cattle, buffaloes, blankets, chocolate and betel nut were among the goods seized.

Lieutenant Colonel Nur Uddin Ahmad, commander of 48 BGB, said the force was continuing its operations and intelligence work to keep the border secure and to stop smuggling and drug trafficking. The goods were seized in raids on several points along the border as part of that effort, he said, and action over them under the law and existing rules is under way.
