Cattle trader killed as vehicle overturns in Natore

A cattle trader named Abdur Razzak Bepari, 50, has been killed after a bhotbhoti, a locally made vehicle run on a shallow pump engine, overturned in Baraigram, Natore. Four others were injured.

The accident happened at about 9pm on Thursday in the Abdul Mor area on the Sreerampur Airmari-Jonail regional road in the upazila.

Abdur Razzak Bepari was the son of the late Sakimuddin Mia of Bhandardaha village in Chandai union of the upazila.

Sahabul Islam, a member of Chandai union parishad, said the victims were returning home in a bhotbhoti after buying cattle at Handial haat in Chatmohar. On the way, in the area of Jonail ML High School, a wheel fell into a hole left in the road where a koroi tree had been uprooted. The vehicle went out of control and fell into a ditch beside the road. Abdur Razzak Bepari, who was on board, died at the scene and four others were injured. They were rescued and admitted to a local private hospital.

Mahbubur Rahman, inspector (investigation) of Baraigram police station, said the body had been recovered and handed over to relatives.
