India’s Border Security Force (BSF) has tried to push four Indian nationals into Bangladesh through the Daulatpur border in Kushtia. The attempt failed because of the alertness of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and its immediate preventive action, and the BSF later took the four back inside India.

The BGB said the incident took place at about 7:45am on Sunday in the area under the Thotarpara border outpost on the Daulatpur border.

BGB sources said the push-in attempt was observed about 50 yards inside India from border pillar 153/9-S, under the Thotarpara outpost of the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB). Members of the Uday Kishan camp of the BSF’s 146 Battalion tried to push four unidentified Indian nationals into Bangladesh. Two of them were men and two were women.

The attempt failed because of the BGB’s intelligence, the alertness of its patrol, its immediate preventive steps and the spontaneous cooperation of local people, the force said. At about 8am the BSF members took the four back inside India.

Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony, commanding officer of the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB), said the border situation is being kept under constant watch. The BGB is on the highest alert and ready to stop any kind of illegal entry or push-in attempt in future, he said.

He added that the Kushtia Battalion is always active in protecting the sovereignty of the border, preventing illegal entry and ensuring border security.

The BSF has tried several times before to push people into Bangladesh illegally through the Daulatpur border. Each time the attempts failed in the face of resistance from the BGB and local people.
