Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained an alleged arms dealer, Rafiqul Islam, 32, along with a foreign pistol and a magazine, in the Mahespur border area of Jhenaidah.
The arrest was disclosed around noon on Wednesday (June 3) in a press release signed by Munshi Imdadur Rahman, assistant director of 58 BGB.
According to the release, a patrol team from the Baghadanga camp of Mahespur 58 BGB conducted an operation early Wednesday in the Benapara field on the Bangladesh side of border pillar 60/81-R. During the operation, arms dealer Rafiqul Islam was detained from a grass field there along with a foreign pistol and a magazine.
Munshi Imdadur Rahman, assistant director of Mahespur 58 BGB, said that after the completion of legal formalities, Rafiqul Islam was handed over to Mahespur police station.
