Pakistani actress Durefishan Saleem has shared an emotional message after performing the Hajj, saying the pilgrimage instilled in her deep spirituality, patience, gratitude and unwavering faith.
In an Instagram post, the “Ishq Murshid” star said the sacred journey enriched her spiritually and helped her “break free from every kind of worldly emotion.”
Durefishan expressed deep gratitude for being able to perform the Hajj alongside her parents. She said she fell ill on the first day while performing the “rami” (the stoning of the devil), but her parents’ presence gave her strength.
Describing the trip as “a story of sabr, shukr and tawakkul” (patience, gratitude and trust in God), the actress said it not only brought profound change within her but also gave her the chance to build beautiful friendships with other women pilgrims.
Recalling the moments and devotion she shared with fellow pilgrims, she wrote: “We prayed together, cried, laughed and ate every kind of camp food.” She added: “We heard extraordinary stories of taqwa (God-consciousness) and came to know the faith more deeply through actions than words.”
Noting the many blessings she gained on the journey, she wrote: “I don’t know what I am taking back with me, because the gains are so great that they cannot be put into words right now. But I do know what I am leaving behind — the heavy burden of all the worldly thoughts and emotions I have carried for so long.”
“To be free of every emotion and surrender myself before God — that is what Hajj has taught me. Perhaps this is the one thing I will keep reminding myself. My whole body aches, but my heart is far calmer and more content than before.”
She ended her message by wishing all Muslims well and praying that God grant everyone the opportunity to perform the sacred pilgrimage.
