Jamaat leader visits family of youth shot dead in Bhanga

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Bhanga municipal chief and former parliamentary candidate for Faridpur-4, Maulana Mohammad Sarwar Hossain, has visited the family of Suman Molla, 25, who was shot dead in Bhanga, Faridpur.

On Saturday at around 11 a.m., Sarwar visited the victim’s family home in Kapuria Sadaradi village, spoke with Suman’s parents and other family members, and expressed his condolences.

“Whoever killed Suman, no matter how powerful they are, must be brought to justice,” he said. “God willing, criminals will face justice on the soil of this country.”

He also provided financial assistance to the victim’s family.

Among those present were DUCSU international affairs secretary Khan Jasim, Bhanga upazila Jamaat municipal chief Dr. Mohammad Enayet Hossain, and other local leaders.

According to the case filed at Bhanga police station, a clash erupted between residents of Kapuria Sadaradi and Purba Hasamdia villages on the evening of Tuesday, June 30, between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., in the Dakhinpara bus stand area of Bhanga municipality, over a territorial dispute. Suman was critically wounded by gunfire during the clash. He was initially taken to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where attending physicians pronounced him dead.

Suman’s father, Milon Mia, filed a murder case naming 11 individuals. None of the accused have been arrested. Bhanga police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said efforts to arrest the accused are ongoing.
