Police recovered 12 kilograms of cannabis and a battery-run autorickshaw used to transport drugs in separate special operations in Brahmanpara, Cumilla. Three people were arrested with drugs in the incident.
In the same operations, police also arrested two more accused with warrants in various cases and 11 more people for summary trial on allegations of drug use. A total of 16 people were arrested in the separate operations.
According to police station sources, a police team led by SI Mohammad Jalal Uddin conducted an operation around 10:45pm on Wednesday, September 23, in the area between Shashidal and Ashabari in Shashidal union of the upazila.
At that time, police recovered 12 kilograms of cannabis and a battery-run autorickshaw used to transport drugs from a bridge north of Rezaul Mia’s house.
In the incident, police arrested Shafiul Alam, 20, of Ashabari area in Shashidal union; Salauddin Hossain Sagar, 22, of Shashidal Westpara; and Akter Hossain, 25, of Uttar Tetabhumi area in Anandapur.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation on Thursday, September 24, police arrested Md Shahid Sarkar, an accused wanted under a CR conviction warrant, and Md Saiful Islam, 36, an accused wanted under a GR warrant.
In addition, in separate police operations on the same day, 11 more people were arrested on allegations of drug use. They were later sent to court for summary trial.
Brahmanpara Police Station officer-in-charge Faruk Hossain said a total of 16 people were arrested in the separate operations. The arrested people were sent to court. The recovered drugs and autorickshaw were seized through legal process.
