Scholarships and certificates were given to 143 meritorious students in Narail. Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Barrister Zillur Rahman was chief guest at the scholarship ceremony, organised by the Bangladesh Kindergarten Oikya Parishad, held in the Rupganj area of the town on Saturday afternoon, June 20.

With Zakir Hossain Bishwas, headmaster of Narail Police Lines School, presiding, the special guests included Haider Ali Dewan, principal of Narail Government Victoria College; businessman Syed Ahad Ali; Aslam Khan, principal of Holy Child Care Home Pre-Cadet School; and others. The event was hosted by Nasmus Sakib Bright and Probir Chakraborty.

Chief guest Additional IGP Barrister Zillur Rahman said the awarding of these scholarships and certificates at the private level was a good initiative. Holding scholarship competitions, he said, creates interest in studies among children — and among parents too — and the children become sharp. He said he had learnt that 448 students from 19 kindergarten schools in Narail district had taken part in the scholarship competition, of whom 56 won scholarships in the talent pool and 87 in the general grade — 143 across the two grades. Those who did not win could not be called weak, he said, because they too had tried. He said he hoped this effort would continue.
