SYLHET — The Bangladesh Nationalist Party has expelled Kohinoor Ahmed, general secretary of its South Surma upazila unit in Sylhet, for breaching party discipline and engaging in activities against party principles and ideals, the party said.
The decision was announced June 11 in a statement signed by Mohammad Munir Hossain, BNP joint office secretary.
The statement said Kohinoor was expelled from his primary membership and all party positions based on specific allegations of breaching party discipline and engaging in activities against party principles and ideals.
Kohinoor faces a range of accusations including controlling sugar smuggling along the border, extortion, theft, robbery, snatching and running a criminal gang, the party said.
