2 Bangladeshis killed by Indian Khasi tribesmen near Sylhet border

SYLHET — Two Bangladeshi men, Yakub Ali and Ashikur Rahman, were killed by gunfire from Indian Khasi tribesmen along the border in Sylhet’s Companiganj upazila, sources said.

Ali was shot around 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, across the border at the Utma frontier area in Boroma Siddhipur. He was wounded and later died while undergoing treatment.

Rahman was shot dead at the scene on the Indian side of the Damdamiya border on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 18.

Ali was the son of Ajmal Ali of Boroma Siddhipur village in Companiganj upazila. Rahman was the son of Burhan Uddin of Turung village in the same upazila.
