The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a rise in the price of gold in the domestic market. Under the new rates, a bhori of 22-carat gold costs Tk 231,297 including VAT, up by Tk 2,216.
BAJUS announced this in a notice on Friday. The new price took effect at 10am the same day.
The notice said the decision was taken at a meeting of the association’s standing committee on pricing and price monitoring at 9am on Friday.
Under the new price list, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold costs Tk 231,297 including VAT. The day before it was Tk 229,081.
The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 220,916 a bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 189,715 and gold of the traditional method at Tk 154,956.
While gold has gone up, the price of silver is unchanged. Under the new list, 22-carat silver costs Tk 4,316 a bhori, 21-carat Tk 4,141, 18-carat Tk 3,558 and silver of the traditional method Tk 2,683.
