A mobile court in Anwara, Chattogram, has fined four traders a total of Tk 1 lakh for selling LPG cylinders at more than the price set by the government.
The drive was conducted on Thursday in the Kalabibir Dighi and Chatri Choumuhani areas by Md Abu Zafar Majumder, Anwara’s assistant commissioner (land) and executive magistrate.
For selling LPG cylinders above the government price, Khorshem Alam, 44, owner of Binimoy Traders, and Md Sadim Uddin, 29, owner of Sadim Traders, were each fined Tk 40,000 under the relevant section of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
At Chatri Choumuhani Bazar, Zahir Uddin Ahmed, 40, owner of Zahir Store, and Ibrahim, 58, owner of Ibrahim Store, were each fined Tk 10,000 for having no purchase receipts for gas cylinders and selling them at higher prices.
After the drive, the executive magistrate said mobile court drives would continue regularly in Anwara upazila in the public interest.
