Sadik Kayem posts emotional message after Shibir farewell

After his formal farewell from Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, the outgoing international affairs secretary and DUCSU vice-president, Sadik Kayem, has posted an emotional message. At a six-monthly setup of Chhatra Shibir on Monday (July 13) afternoon, publicity secretary SM Farhad announced the formal farewell of nine central secretaries, including Sadik Kayem.

Sadik Kayem then announced his formal departure from Chhatra Shibir in a post on his personal Facebook. In the post he wrote: “Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, my beloved organization of emotion and love! A long, golden chapter has come to an end before my eyes. As part of the organization’s normal process, my formal leave from Islami Chhatra Shibir has come today. I offer countless thanks to Allah for everything. The most beautiful and productive times of my life were spent with this caravan.”

He also wrote: “This beloved caravan taught me to think about the country and the nation, taught me to break my hesitation and speak, and developed the qualities of leadership in me with the utmost care. It was Islami Chhatra Shibir that gave me complete guidance in spiritual and inner development.”

“Looking back, countless beloved faces and images of struggle float up in the pages of memory. The companionship and closeness of dedicated, responsible members and workers throughout this time is one of the greatest achievements of my life. At every turn of life I have learned from you and been inspired by you,” he wrote.

Sadik Kayem further wrote: “I pray that Allah accepts these sacred bonds of the workers of Islami Chhatra Shibir’s struggle and movement, grants us the ability to walk in the coming days as vigilant guardians of the liberation struggle of the oppressed people of this region, and grants leadership worthy of making this movement victorious. Ameen.”

The nine secretaries who formally left Chhatra Shibir are central international secretary Sadik Kayem, central media secretary Mu’tasim Billah Shahedi, central HRD secretary Sharif Mahmud, central student rights secretary Muhibur Rahman Muhib, central planning and development secretary Riazul Islam, central business education secretary Nurul Huda, central library secretary Arafat Hossain Milon, central debate secretary Habibur Rahman Arman and central dawah secretary Shaheen Ahmed.
