Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has dismissed as “completely false” reports that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors have been granted access to nuclear facilities damaged by US strikes, Al Jazeera reported on Thursday.
Ghalibaf said the IAEA has no right to enter or inspect the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, the Natanz Nuclear Facility, or the Isfahan Nuclear Technology Center — all of which were struck by the United States.
He said IAEA inspectors currently have access to only two sites: the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant and the Tehran Research Reactor.
Ghalibaf added that Iran’s parliament has already passed legislation banning IAEA access to the damaged facilities, and that the Supreme National Security Council has approved a corresponding decision.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi had previously said that under the Iran-US agreement, the agency’s inspectors would need to access and inspect Iran’s nuclear sites. He expressed hope that they would be able to do so soon.
