Three UPDF members arrested with weapons in dawn raid in Matiranga, Khagrachhari

Security forces seized three members of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF Prasit faction) in a dawn raid in Rekhung Para village, Sadar Union, Matiranga upazila, Khagrachhari on Thursday (June 25), acting on intelligence, the officer-in-charge of Matiranga police station confirmed.

The three arrested are: Hla Prusai Marma, 30, son of Thowaigya Marma of Lakkhi Sipara village, Hufchari Union, Guimara upazila; Tejendra Chakma, 27, son of Sumailla Chakma of Kola Para, Guimara Sadar Union; and Bishwa Tripura, 28, son of Durga Mohan Tripura of Mansi Para.

Intelligence indicated the three had been staying at a house in Rekhung Para after concluding organisational activities in the Bailachari area of Matiranga. Items seized from them include one single-barrel country-made gun with two rounds of ammunition, one foreign-made pistol with one round and a magazine, one knife, three bags, one pair of shoes, and Tk 11,000 in cash.

Officer-in-charge Shahed Uddin confirmed the arrests and said the detainees were being held at the police station while legal proceedings were under way.
