Three more die with measles symptoms in 24 hours

Three more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours. In the same period, measles and its symptoms were identified in 908 more people. That takes the toll from measles and measles symptoms to 828.

The information was given in the Directorate General of Health Services’ updated measles report on Tuesday afternoon, 28 July.

The report said measles was confirmed by testing in 105 children in the past 24 hours. Another 799 children received treatment with measles symptoms. That brings the total number of deaths from measles and its symptoms in the country to 828 between 15 March and 28 July this year. Of them, 95 died of confirmed measles and 733 with measles symptoms.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, measles symptoms were identified in a total of 1 lakh 25 thousand 552 people in the country between 15 March and 28 July. In the same period 15 thousand 656 were confirmed as having measles.

More than 1 lakh patients have been admitted to hospital since the current outbreak began. Most of them have completed treatment and returned home. The Directorate General of Health Services has called for children to receive their scheduled vaccinations to prevent the spread of measles, and for medical advice to be sought quickly if symptoms appear.
