The government has carried out a major reshuffle in the police, transferring and posting 14 officers of the BCS (Police) cadre at the ranks of DIG, additional DIG and superintendent of police (SP).
The transfer and posting orders were issued on Tuesday in three separate notifications from the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry. Issued in the public interest, the orders take effect immediately.
Under the notifications, Mymensingh Range DIG Md Ataul Kibria has been transferred as DIG of the CID. In his place, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan has been made Mymensingh Range DIG.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Commissioner Abdul Quddus Chowdhury has been made Chattogram Range DIG. Police headquarters DIG Sarwar Morshed Shamim has been posted as the new SMP commissioner. An earlier transfer order for CID DIG Masud Karim has been cancelled.
Changes were also made at RAB and police headquarters. Anti-Terrorism Unit Superintendent of Police Sharif Uddin Ahmed has been posted to RAB as supernumerary additional DIG. Industrial Police additional DIG Md Kofil Uddin has been transferred as additional DIG (current charge) of police headquarters.
Pabna SP Md Safi Ullah has been transferred as special SP of the CID, and Abu Ashraf of the Anti-Terrorism Unit has been posted as Pabna SP in his place.
In addition, Police Staff College additional DIG Nasian Wajed, police headquarters’ A F M Nizam Uddin and SB special SP Tahsin Mashruf Hossain Masfi have been attached to the Rangpur Range DIG’s office. In-Service Training Centre’s Mohammad Ashiqur Rahman has been posted to Khulna Range, Tourist Police’s Md Apel Mahmud to Rajshahi Range and CID’s Mir Abu Touhid to the Chattogram Range DIG’s office.
The orders were issued in separate notifications signed by Touhid Ahmed, deputy secretary of the Home Ministry’s Public Security Division.
