Twenty-four senior police officers reshuffled

Twenty-four senior officers of Bangladesh Police have been reshuffled: 12 additional deputy inspectors general, three DIGs and nine officers of superintendent of police rank.

The changes were made in three separate notifications signed by Home Ministry Deputy Secretary Tousif Ahmed on Sunday (4 October), to take effect immediately in the public interest.

Under the orders, Dr Md Akkas Uddin Bhuiyan of the Special Response Unit (SRU, formerly the ATU) and Special Branch DIG Md Mahmudur Rahman have been posted to the Police Staff College, and CID DIG Mohammad Hasan Bari Noor to the Mass Rapid Transit (metro rail) police.

In another order, CID Superintendent ATM Mosharraf Hossain and DMP Deputy Commissioner Syed Mohammad Farhad have been made deputy commissioners in Gazipur Metropolitan Police; Police Staff College SP Mahbubul Alam has been made special superintendent in the CID; SP Mohammad Humayun Kabir, attached to the Central Police Hospital, and Police Headquarters AIG Nishat Angela have been moved to the Tourist Police; Special Branch SP Ashrafuzzaman and Chattogram Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Kabir Ahmed have been made deputy commissioners in Khulna Metropolitan Police; PBI SP Yasmin Khatun has been moved to the Special Branch; and Barishal Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Imdad Hussain has been made SRU superintendent.

The report does not name the 12 additional DIGs.
