The Indian government has granted Dinesh Trivedi, India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, the personal rank of a Cabinet Minister, an official memorandum issued on Wednesday (June 24) stated. The elevation will entitle him to higher protocol privileges at state and formal functions.
The memorandum, signed by Under-Secretary Kamlesh Ravidas, stated that the designation was granted to Trivedi in a personal capacity. It clarified that the elevation does not alter India’s existing Table of Precedence — the official protocol ranking of public office-holders — and that the higher rank applies only for state and formal functions.
The Table of Precedence is an official Indian government document that determines the order of precedence for various public office-holders and dignitaries at state and formal occasions.
