Iran has clearly stated that no talks have been held with the United States over its nuclear programme. Its foreign ministry rejected US President Donald Trump’s recent claim, saying Iran had reached no new agreement on not building nuclear weapons.
On Monday (June 1), Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said no talks are currently under way with the United States on the details of the nuclear programme. Tehran’s main goal now, he said, is to end the ongoing conflict and secure a lasting resolution.
He said Iran is aware of when and how to act on the nuclear issue, but that no detailed discussions have taken place on it at present.
Baghaei also accused the United States of violating the ceasefire. Iran would take all necessary steps to protect its national security if needed, he said, without elaborating.
Meanwhile, the US military said it had struck radar and drone installations in Iran’s Gork city and on Qasem Island. Washington described the operations as defensive measures.
Amid the recent tensions, Iran has made clear that its priority now is not nuclear talks but ending the ongoing conflict and restoring stability.
