A young man named Sajib, 18, has died after drinking pesticide following a family quarrel in Ukto village in Chuadanga Sadar upazila. He died at about 8am on Wednesday on the way to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital. Sajib was the son of Hablur Rahman of Ukto village. Local sources and police said he had long been troubled by discord in the family.
Early on Wednesday he drank pesticide without his family’s knowledge. When they realised, they rushed him to Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex.
After first aid there, they were advised to take him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for better treatment, and the family set off for the hospital with him in a van.
Local people believe Sajib may have drunk the pesticide because of long-running family quarrels and ill feeling.
Chuadanga Sadar police station officer-in-charge Moniruzzaman said it had been learned initially that Sajib drank pesticide at home following a family quarrel. His body is being kept at the morgue of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
