CHOUGACHHA, Bangladesh — A 25-year-old man was killed Saturday when the battery-powered auto-rickshaw he was riding in overturned on the Chougachha-Kotchandpur road in Jashore district, police said.
Imran Hossain, the son of Raihan Hossain of Chanpara village in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah district, died Saturday afternoon, April 4, in the accident near Messrs Bishwas Filling Station in the Chougachha area.
Hossain was traveling by auto-rickshaw with his mother-in-law to a doctor’s appointment in Chougachha when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned, pinning him underneath, authorities said. He was seriously injured.
Local residents pulled Hossain from the wreckage and took him to Chougachha Upazila Government Model Hospital. His condition worsened, and he was referred to Jashore Sadar Hospital. He died on the way to Jashore.
Chougachha police station officer-in-charge Rezaul Karim confirmed the incident.
