CHOUGACHHA, Jashore — World Health Day 2026 was observed in Chougachha upazila of Jashore on Tuesday, with a rally and discussion organized by the Upazila Health Complex in the morning.
The day was marked at the Upazila Health Complex meeting hall under the theme “Science for health, safety for all lives.”
Dr. Md. Ahsanul Mizan Rumi, Chougachha upazila health and family planning officer, presided over the event. Among those present were Dr. Suraiya Parvin, resident medical officer; Dr. Sumaiya Jasmin, child consultant; Dr. Tanzim Sabiha, dental consultant; statistician Shahidul Islam; nursing supervisor Jhumur Halder; Mofizur Rahman; Shahidul Islam; officials from various departments of the Chougachha Upazila Health Complex; and members of the Chougachha Press Club.
The United Nations Economic and Social Council decided in February 1946 to convene an international conference on health. The International Health Conference was held in June and July of the same year and adopted the constitution of the World Health Organization. The constitution came into force on April 7, 1948, and that day was designated as World Health Day.
The World Health Organization was founded on April 7, 1948, and World Health Day is observed each year to mark the occasion. Each year the organization chooses a health issue of global significance, and the day is observed at both local and international levels.
