Three more children have died with measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,179 children were infected with measles or measles-like symptoms.
The figures were given in the Directorate General of Health Services’ updated measles report on Monday afternoon.
The notice said three children died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, though no child died of confirmed measles.
This brings the total number of children who have died with measles symptoms nationwide since March 15 to 498. A further 90 children have died of confirmed measles — meaning a total of 588 children have died from measles or its symptoms over the period.
In the past 24 hours, 45 children were confirmed with measles and 1,134 had measles-like symptoms. Over the period, 1,016 children were newly admitted to hospital and 881 were discharged.
According to DGHS data, the total number of suspected measles patients from March 15 to date is 72,070, and confirmed measles patients 9,094. Of them, 57,902 were hospitalised, of whom 53,722 have been discharged and returned home.
