A total of 6,175 Bangladeshi pilgrims have so far returned home from Saudi Arabia on 15 return flights after performing the Hajj.
The figure is as of Sunday, the relevant authorities said. This year’s Hajj formalities concluded last month. Three designated airlines are operating the return flights — three by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, four by Saudia and eight by Flynas — bringing the pilgrims home.
The Hajj office said that of the returning pilgrims, 416 came home under government management and 5,759 under private Hajj agencies.
So far, 37 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj — 24 men and 13 women. Of them, 27 died in Mecca and 10 in Medina.
This year’s Hajj operations began with the first flight on April 18 and ended on May 21. The return Hajj flights began on May 30 and will continue until June 30.
