The dismembered body of a man was found near a river in Saltha upazila, Faridpur, on Thursday, police said.
The victim was identified as Pannu Fakir, also known as Jamu Fakir, aged 42, son of Rahman Fakir of Saltha upazila. He was last seen attending a land-dispute mediation meeting on Wednesday night and did not return home, family members said.
The officer-in-charge of Saltha police station, Bablu Rahman Khan, said police had recovered the body and launched an investigation to identify those responsible.
