Police have arrested 10 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organisations in an operation in the Dhanmondi Model police station area of the capital.
They were arrested red-handed early on Monday (June 22) from Satmasjid Road while preparing for a flash march, police said. The detainees were aged between 20 and 40.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media and Public Relations division, Niaz Mehedi, gave the information in a press release.
According to the release, the arrests were made in an operation based on secret information. Recovered from those held were 15 caps bearing the Juba League monogram, eight T-shirts carrying photographs of leaders and activists, and a banner reading ‘Sheikh Hasina will come, Bangladesh will smile.’ Two buses and a private car carrying them were also seized.
Those arrested have been sent to court.
