On receiving news of a road accident in Kishoreganj, a police driver at Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station went to the scene and had to recover the body of his own 10-year-old son.
The boy was killed at about 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24, when a cement-laden truck ran over him in the Janata School Road area of Kishoreganj town.
The boy was a fourth-grade pupil of Gaital Janata School. His father works as a driver at Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station.
According to station sources, on receiving news of the road accident in the Janata School Road area in the morning, a patrol team from the station set out for the scene. The father was driving the patrol vehicle. While recovering the body at the scene, he learned that the child killed was his own son.
Police and local sources said the boy had gone out on his bicycle from his home in the Gaital area to ride around the Janata School Road area in the morning. A cement-laden truck then ran over him, and he died on the spot.
The duty officer at Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station, Tania Naznin, said news of the accident was phoned to the station in the morning. The caller said a schoolboy had been killed when a cement-laden truck ran over him. The child’s identity was not yet known at that point.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station, Md Abul Kalam Bhuiya, said the body had been recovered and taken to the hospital morgue. The truck involved in the accident has been seized, but the driver has fled. Necessary legal steps are being taken in the case.
