International:
Despite the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump publicly claiming Iran’s military power has been “obliterated,” a confidential assessment by American intelligence agencies paints a different picture. A new intelligence report states that Iran has regained operational control of most of its missile sites, mobile launchers, and underground military installations.
According to the assessment, 30 out of 33 missile sites near the Hormuz Strait have returned to operational status. These sites could pose a threat to U.S. warships and oil tankers, experts fear.
The report also indicates that Iran can still use mobile launchers to move missiles and, in some areas, directly launch them. Only three sites remain fully inactive.
Missile and Military Infrastructure
American intelligence agencies estimate that Iran retains about 70% of its mobile missile launchers and nearly 70% of its pre-war missile stockpile, including ballistic and cruise missiles.
Additionally, around 90% of Iran’s nationwide underground missile storage and launch centers have returned to partial or full operational status, the assessment notes.
Contradiction with Trump Administration Claims
Trump and U.S. Secretary of Defense Pat Hegseth have long asserted that Iran’s military capabilities have been “shattered.” In March, Trump stated that Iran’s missile capabilities had been “greatly reduced” and the country had “nothing left militarily.” Hegseth also claimed in April that a joint U.S.-Israel operation had rendered Iran’s military power ineffective for years.
However, the new intelligence data challenges these statements.
Weapon Stockpile Crisis and U.S. Concern
The report reveals that during the war with Iran, the U.S. employed a significant number of Tomahawk cruise missiles, Patriot defense missiles, and other advanced weaponry. This has put a strain on the American arsenal.
The U.S. military utilized nearly 1,100 stealth cruise missiles, over a thousand Tomahawks, and more than 1,300 Patriot interceptors, according to the report.
Experts suggest that replenishing these weapons could take several years.
