Former Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani has drawn a red line over Israel’s expansionism in the Middle East. He said the U.S.-Israel war on Iran is not an accidental escalation but the culmination of a long-standing Israeli plan to remake the Middle East.
This was revealed in a report by Al Jazeera on Monday (May 11). In an interview with Al Jazeera’s ‘Al Mukabala’ program, Sheikh Hamad said the crisis surrounding the Hormuz Strait is the most dangerous consequence of the recent war. At the same time, he expressed concern about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ambition to establish a “Greater Israel” and called for a joint defense force in the region.
He said we are now witnessing the region’s comprehensive restructuring. The current geopolitical changes will determine the Middle East’s future for the next few decades.
Sheikh Hamad revealed that he had warned of a possible conflict last year and urged regional countries to seek a diplomatic solution with Iran to avert a military attack.

They said that a “hardline faction” in Israel, led by Netanyahu, has been working to push the country into conflict with Iran. Netanyahu has been trying to persuade the United States to go to war with Iran over its nuclear program since the 1990s, during President Bill Clinton’s term in office.

They further stated that previous U.S. administrations were divided on whether to start a full-scale war. However, Netanyahu was successful in convincing Washington, presenting a “misleading” picture that the war would be quick and brief, leading to the fall of the Iranian government within a few weeks.

Sheikh Hamad said Netanyahu has been the biggest beneficiary of this war. He has exploited the volatile situation to promote the ideas of a “forced regional alliance” and the concept of “Greater Israel.” This plan by Israel’s right-wingers has raised concerns about the country’s border expansion, even reaching the Arab peninsula.
