Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem warned on Friday that Israel must leave Lebanon unconditionally, speaking in a live-broadcast address.
Qassem said Israel had not entered Lebanon because of missiles; rather, he said, they entered wanting to swallow and occupy the country.
“Our restraint was not weakness — it was a well-planned strategy of patience,” he said.
He said patience was the path to victory, adding: “Our patience shapes the future, overturns equations, and breaks the grip of the oppressor.”
Qassem made clear that disarming or surrendering weapons north of the Litani River was not an option. The question of arms, he said, would be discussed internally after Israel’s complete and unconditional withdrawal.
He claimed Israel’s main objective had been to eliminate Hezbollah entirely, but that they had successfully repelled the aggression. Hezbollah fighters are currently positioned at Ali Taher mountain, he said.
Qassem also appealed to Lebanese authorities to unite against the enemy and to stop implementing directives that serve American and Israeli interests, warning that Lebanese authorities could not afford to antagonise half the country’s population.
He claimed that Hezbollah had foiled the “Israeli-American plan” and that the group had now entered a new phase.
On the Iran-US memorandum of understanding, Qassem described the agreement as a formal declaration of American and Israeli defeat, saying Iran’s steadfastness had made the deal possible.
