Ruhul Amin, the MP elected from the Chuadanga-2 constituency (Darshana-Damurhuda and Jibannagar), has strongly demanded in parliament the restoration of Chuadanga’s Joyrampur and Ansarbaria stations and train stoppages at both. During a supplementary question under Rule 71, he said rail communication first began through Darshana in 1862, when Joyrampur station also opened; Ansarbaria station opened much later. Unfortunately, he said, train stoppages at the two stations were halted under the previous government because of some “vicious circle.”

He said that, with no good educational institution near Ansarbaria and Joyrampur, students have to travel to Chuadanga Government College on local engine-driven vehicles such as nasiman, karimon and vatvati. On the way they often fall victim to road accidents and are crippled prematurely, extinguishing their parents’ dreams in a short time. So, with the higher education of the area’s children in mind, he strongly urged the Speaker in parliament on Sunday for train stoppages at the two stations.
