A discussion meeting was held in Narail to mark World Sports Journalists’ Day. The event was organized by the Narail district branch of the Bangladesh Sports Press Association at the Narail Press Club auditorium on Friday evening.
The meeting was chaired by Narail Press Club vice president M Munir Chowdhury. Speakers included Press Club general secretary Mahbubur Rashid Lablu, RTV’s Narail correspondent Mostafa Kamal, Narail District Sports Association member secretary Al Amin, and sports coach and journalist Ashikur Rahman Sourav.
Speakers said World Sports Journalists’ Day is observed on July 2 each year. They emphasized the need to highlight the significance of the day among media workers and to honor the contribution of sports journalists to professional excellence, objective reporting, and the development of the country’s sports sector.
The International Sports Press Association was founded in Paris, France, on July 2, 1924. The day has been observed in various countries since 1995.
