Bangladesh Bridge Authority collected nearly 64 crore taka in tolls from vehicles crossing the Padma and Jamuna bridges over 10 days during Eid ul-Azha.
The information was given in a press release from the Bangladesh Bridge Authority on Sunday.
The release said that, thanks to well-planned preparations and coordinated management to ensure smooth and safe travel for Eid homebound passengers, a total of 36,11,95,900 taka was collected on the Padma Bridge from 3,18,515 vehicles that crossed over the 10 days from May 21 to 30.
Similarly, on the Jamuna Bridge, 3,61,482 vehicles crossed over the same 10 days, with a total of 27,68,54,900 taka collected in tolls.
The release added that the effective management of the two bridges ensured safe, smooth and peaceful road travel for passengers during the Eid ul-Azha holidays.
Bridges Division Secretary and Bangladesh Bridge Authority Executive Director Mohammad Abdur Rouf said the prime minister works tirelessly to make people’s Eid journeys safe and smooth. In keeping with that, the road transport and bridges minister and state minister also monitored the Eid journey around the clock, making the homebound travel more comfortable and orderly.
