Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC’s Gazipur Sadar branch held a customer gathering and views-exchange meeting to further strengthen its relationship with customers, to brief them on the bank’s overall activities and to take their feedback.
At the event, held on Wednesday (15 July) on the Gazipur Sadar branch premises, branch manager and head Mamunul Islam presided and branch operation manager Mohammad Ullah conducted the proceedings. Dr Mohammad Solaiman, head of the Dhaka East Zone and senior executive vice-president of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, spoke as chief guest. Dhaka East Zone FAVP Humayun Kabir and Islami Bank Gazipur Chourasta branch manager and head Mosleh Uddin spoke as special guests.
Md Sadequzzaman Khan, Abdul Khaleq Sarkar, Gelman Hossain, Abdus Salam, Konika Das and other customers from various walks of life spoke on behalf of the customers.
In his address as chief guest, Dr Mohammad Solaiman said customers were Islami Bank’s greatest strength and source of trust, and that it was because of their faith, love and cooperation that Islami Bank still held a strong position in the country’s banking sector despite various adversities and, he said, conspiracies.
He said that, as one of the South Asian banks to feature on the list of the world’s top 1,000 banks, Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC was playing an important role in the country’s socio-economic development, Shariah-based banking, industrialisation, the development of small and medium entrepreneurs and the expansion of halal investment.
He added that Islami Bank’s contribution to the country’s ready-made garment industry, various production sectors and lawful investment was significant, and that the bank also played an important role in collecting remittances sent by expatriate Bangladeshis. Although many expatriate customers had temporarily reduced their remittances during some past crises, he said, they had now begun sending remittances through Islami Bank again as the situation improved — an expression of their trust in the bank.
Dr Mohammad Solaiman said various conspiracies had been mounted against Islami Bank in the past too, but that no ill attempt had succeeded because of customers’ wholehearted support and love, and expressed hope that no conspiracy could hinder Islami Bank’s progress if customers’ cooperation continued in future. He also announced to customers that those who had recently withdrawn their deposits for various reasons would, if they redeposited that money with Islami Bank by 31 July, be paid full profit under the bank’s policy.
At the event, customers raised various questions and views on the bank’s services, investment, deposits, digital banking and the improvement of customer service. The chief guest and the officials concerned answered the customers’ questions in detail and pledged to ensure improved, transparent and customer-friendly services in future. In his address as chair, branch head Mamunul Islam said customers’ trust and satisfaction were Islami Bank’s main strength, and that the Gazipur Sadar branch would always work sincerely to provide modern, safe and Shariah-compliant banking services to meet customers’ expectations.
