Three more children have died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours. In the same period 1,268 children showed symptoms of the disease and measles was confirmed in 81, making 1,349 new patients in all.
The figures were given in Friday’s notice from the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services.
According to the notice, 1,147 children have died from 15 March to 8am on 9 October. Of them, 104 died of confirmed measles and the other 1,043 with measles symptoms.
In this period 202,893 suspected patients have been found and 22,197 children have had confirmed measles. A total of 180,097 have been admitted to hospital, and 172,705 children have gone home after recovering.
Of the children who died in the past 24 hours, one each was in Sylhet, Chattogram and Barishal divisions. Dhaka division had the most children with measles symptoms in the period, 457, and 60 confirmed cases.
