Sadik Kayem, vice-president of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), has made four demands, including the removal of Aminul Haque, state minister for youth and sports, and the director general of the Department of Youth Development, over the leak of the question paper for the recruitment test for the post of assistant upazila youth development officer.

He made the demands in a post on his verified Facebook account on Saturday afternoon.

His four demands are: to end question leaks for good by identifying all the syndicates involved and ensuring exemplary punishment; to remove the state minister for youth and sports and the director general of the Department of Youth Development from their duties for administrative failure and hold an impartial investigation; to quickly identify the officers, employees and rings involved in the leak and arrest, investigate and try them; and to compensate the affected candidates, taking their travel costs into account.

The recruitment test for the post of assistant upazila youth development officer (grade 11) was to be held at 11am on Saturday. More than 300,000 job seekers from across the country were to sit it for 242 posts, and about 100 centres had been arranged in the capital. But the test was suspended just before it was due to start, on the stated ground that evidence of a question leak had been found.

Candidates demonstrated on several roads in the capital in protest at the suspension. They blocked Manik Mia Avenue, Shahbagh, the Nilkhet intersection and Satmasjid Road. A demonstration was also reported in front of the main gate of Bangla College in Mirpur.
