Yemen’s Houthi rebels have warned passengers and airlines not to use Saudi Arabia’s airports and airspace. The group gave the warning after a missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

The Houthis’ military spokesman, Yahya Saree, gave the warning in a statement on the social media platform X on Sunday.

He said in the statement that their forces may attack Saudi Arabia’s airports and airspace. The airports of Mecca and Medina will remain outside the threat, he said.

Saree called on airlines, shipping companies, the officials and staff concerned and passengers to take the warning seriously.

He warned that if Saudi Arabia’s attempts to intercept missiles fail, its government will have to bear the responsibility.

The Houthi military also said it would not move from its declared position until its aims are achieved.

It said it would follow a policy of an airport attack in answer to an airport attack, a blockade in answer to a blockade, and counter-measures if tensions rise.
