A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight developed a fault in one of its rear wheels after take-off and later made an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The aircraft was flying from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka.

The airport’s runway was closed for about half an hour. It happened on Saturday afternoon. The aircraft was Biman flight BG-436, registration S2-AKE.

It is learned that the fault in a rear wheel was noticed just after take-off from Cox’s Bazar. On learning of it the pilot sent an emergency message to the Dhaka tower, and an emergency landing at Shahjalal airport was then declared as a precaution.

The runway was closed to deal with the situation. According to the Dhaka tower, all take-offs and landings were suspended from 3pm to 3:30pm Bangladesh time.

The aircraft then made a safe emergency landing. All passengers and crew on board are reported safe.

Flight movements at the airport were briefly disrupted while the runway was closed, and resumed once the situation returned to normal.
