The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) published the results of the 50th BCS written examination on Thursday, July 23. A total of 6,165 candidates passed.

Candidates can see detailed results on the PSC’s official website and through Teletalk mobile SMS.

Under the PSC’s previously announced examination calendar, the 50th BCS written results were due to be published on July 30. The constitutional body published them seven days ahead of that date. Under the commission’s earlier plan, the viva voce for successful candidates was to begin on August 10; it will now start on August 11.

Although the PSC has increased the pace of its examinations and results, job seekers are not getting the real benefit. Even after the PSC sends its recommendations following final results, final appointments are held up by the slow pace of police verification and medical examination under the Ministry of Public Administration. According to available information, candidates from the 45th, 46th and 49th BCS have been unable to join their jobs even though about eight months have passed since their final recommendation, because the verification process has not been completed. In the meantime the final results of the 47th BCS have been published and the 50th BCS results released quickly. So while the PSC’s results have speeded up, final appointments remain stuck in the verification backlog.

A total of 2,150 candidates will be appointed through the 50th BCS across cadre and non-cadre posts, of which 1,755 are cadre posts. The largest number of appointments will be in the health cadre, taking 650 doctors. In addition, 200 officers will be appointed to the administration cadre and 117 to the police cadre.
