Before the Ashes, England will play a Test match against Bangladesh on home soil. The match is likely to be held towards the end of May next year.

Bangladesh last played a Test in England in 2010. After nearly 17 years, therefore, the Tigers will once again take the field in whites in English conditions. The match, however, is not part of the World Test Championship.

The venue of the match has not yet been confirmed. It depends on where the World Test Championship final is held. If the final is not at Lord’s, the Bangladesh-England Test is more likely to be played at Lord’s; and if the final is held at Lord’s, the match could be staged at the Oval.

The Lord’s pitch has come in for criticism recently, as a Test against New Zealand there ended in very few overs and offered conditions quite favourable to the bowlers. In this situation, the England and Wales Cricket Board is also considering moving the World Test Championship final from Lord’s to the Oval.

In the 2027 schedule, England will host Bangladesh and play a special Test against Australia. A single home Test against Bangladesh is then planned for May.

These series are being seen as a major preparation opportunity for England before the Ashes, and for Bangladesh as an important experience of playing a Test in England after a long gap.
