Six more children died of measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours. Over the period, 789 children were infected with measles or its symptoms, and measles was confirmed in 45 children. Four of the six children died in Mymensingh, with two children dying in Dhaka and Khulna.
The figures were given in the Directorate General of Health Services’ regular measles report on Saturday.
The report said 615 children had died of measles symptoms since 15 March, and 93 children of confirmed measles, for a total of 708 deaths. Measles has been confirmed in the bodies of 4,693 children.
During this period, 22,442 children were hospitalised with measles symptoms, of whom 19,018 recovered and returned home. The Directorate General of Health Services said measles symptoms had appeared in 98,266 children since 15 March this year, with measles confirmed in 11,594. A total of 109,860 children have so far been infected with measles or its symptoms, and 78,287 have recovered and returned home.
