Chhatra Dal has suspended the organizational post of Md. Maidul Islam Bappi, senior vice-president of its Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) unit, over allegations that he breached the organization’s discipline.
The decision was announced on Monday in a notice signed by Md. Jahangir Alam, the office secretary of the central Chhatra Dal, who holds the rank of vice-president. The notice, also signed by central Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, said the post had been suspended in line with a decision of the central council over the allegation of a breach of organizational discipline.
On Monday, the leader’s wife, a student at the university, repeatedly filed written complaints with the university administration and the central president, accusing Maidul Islam of abusing her over dowry and drug money and of threatening to kill her.
