Real Madrid have begun the process of signing Rodri to strengthen their midfield. Having completed a deal for Yan Diomande, the club plans to make a formal offer for the Spanish midfielder at Manchester City.
The Spanish newspaper Marca contends that the Real president, Florentino Pérez, has already given the green light to the plan to sign the 30-year-old Rodri.
According to the report, Real’s head coach, José Mourinho, had initially considered several options to strengthen the midfield, including Enzo Fernández and Mateus Fernandes. In the end he chose Rodri as the main target. Rodri’s outstanding performance at the 2026 World Cup and his winning of the Golden Ball have strengthened the decision further, the Spanish outlet said.
Rodri’s current contract with Manchester City runs until June 2027. The report says, however, that he is not interested in renewing it. In that situation Real Madrid believe it will be possible to sign the Spanish midfielder for 50 to 60 million euros.
