Prime Minister Tareque Rahman has said there is now a favourable climate for investment in Bangladesh, and that the government is ready to give all kinds of support to interested foreign investors.
He made the remarks during a courtesy call by a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham).
The meeting was held on Tuesday (11 August) in the Cabinet Division meeting room at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
The prime minister’s assistant press secretary, Gazi Shahriar Pamir, gave the information.
The eight-member delegation was led by AmCham Bangladesh president and Mastercard vice-president Syed Mohammad Kamal.
The AmCham representatives told the prime minister that the organisation’s new committee took charge about two months ago and is working to attract more US investment to Bangladesh and to further strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.
The prime minister said there is now a favourable investment climate in Bangladesh and that the government is ready to give interested foreign investors every kind of support.
Also present were Commerce Minister Khondkar Abdul Muktadir; the prime minister’s adviser for posts, telecommunications and IT and for science and technology, Rehan Asif Asad; and the executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Ashik Chowdhury.
