Storm warning issued for gusts up to 60kph by noon

The weather office has said stormy winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour could sweep through several districts by noon, with a chance of rain or thundershowers as well.

The information came in a forecast issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department for the country’s inland river ports, covering the period from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, August 16.

The forecast said temporary gusty or stormy winds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour from the south or southeast could sweep across the Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar regions. Rain or thundershowers are likely in these areas. River ports in these regions have been advised to hoist the No. 1 river warning signal.
